(Details)
(Challenge)
Intuitive book discovery
Many teenagers aged 13 to 17 struggle to find books that genuinely interest them, particularly within school libraries. Traditional book-search systems often feel dull and impersonal, raising the barrier for actively seeking new books. The challenge was to design an accessible and interactive solution that not only simplifies the book discovery process but also makes it enjoyable and engaging. Additionally, the interface needed to be visually appealing and aligned with teenagers' interests, transforming the process from a chore into a playful exploration.

(Goal)
A playfull, yet modern design
The goal of Libby was to create an intuitive and visually engaging app that helps students find books based on their personal preferences. Through an interactive questionnaire featuring playful animations, users could express their interests without feeling burdened by a lengthy, tedious form. Furthermore, the app needed not only to suggest titles but also immediately indicate the book's location within the library, making the step from discovery to reading as seamless as possible. Finally, the app needed to have a modern, somewhat serious design aesthetic, since teenagers like to be taken seriously and don't want a "childish" experience when looking for books.

(Result)
Proof of concept
The project resulted in a functional prototype that introduced an interactive approach to book discovery. The combination of micro-animations, smooth user experience, and a tailored recommendation system resulted in a well-received concept. As a concept, Libby established a foundation for a fresh method of exploring books in school libraries.
